Steven P. Kipferl, DPM, MHA, AACFAS
Dr. Steven Kipferl received his undergraduate degree in Biology, from the University of Iowa where he earned the National Scholars Award Scholarship. While achieving his D.P.M degree at the William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, he earned Pi-Delta Podiatric Medical Honors Society recognition for academic achievement. He also earned a dual degree, achieving a Masters of Science in Healthcare Administration from Rosalind Franklin University. He completed his 3 year Podiatric Residency of Reconstructive Foot & Ankle Surgery at Rush Medical Center in Chicago where he worked with over 50 different surgeons from Rush University Medical Center, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, North Shore University Health System, and Advocate Health System. He has since been recognized as an associate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
Dr. Steven Kipferl specializes in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, complex deformity correction, treatment of traumatic and sports injuries, as well as bunion and hammertoe correction. He utilizes a combination of the newest advancements in surgical technique as well as traditional proven procedures to address each patients specific needs and optimize the overall outcome.
Diabetic Foot Specialist
In addition, Dr. Steven Kipferl also specializes in diabetic preventative foot care, diabetic wound care, and diabetic limb salvage. His previous work at Rush University Medical Center involved working with the limb salvage multi specialty team, using the most advanced modalities available to prevent wounds, complications, and amputations in his diabetic patients. He is a strong proponent of prevention of complications using proper shoegear, accomodative inserts, and padding where needed. If required, he utilizes the newest in-office grafting techniques to close wounds quickly.
